Andrew Chui is an Asian American and an infantry veteran of the U.S. Army. During his tour in Afghanistan, Andrew began documenting daily life with an iPhone. Following his deployment, he travelled to Europe and Asia documenting landscapes and street life to explore his new found love for the “photographic language.” It allowed him to speak his voice and share his vision.. His goal of becoming an NYPD ESU Officer became irrelevant as his passion to pursue his new dream of becoming a photographer, a reality. Returning from his solo trip, he applied and was accepted to the School of Visual Arts where he has obtained his BFA in Photography & Video. Currently Andrew uses photography to cover important stories that he believes the world should see. He enjoys the power of visual storytelling as a way to communicate his need to document and share. He continues to capture it from the mountains of Afghanistan to the streets of New York and wherever his next assignments take him.
